The biggest news of the day is that my sister had her new baby last night. Laura Danielle was born at 6PM and was 9lbs 1oz and was 22 inches long. Laura was born with a full head of hair (which makes me jealous). Mama and baby and everyone in the family are doing great. We are very excited. We think it is pretty incredible that two beautiful little girls were adfed to our family this week.
We went to a big public park this morning. There were so many people there. Our guide said that was typical. As we were leaving the park, we met a large group of students coming in. They were 13-14 years old. One large group stopped us and began talking. They were interested in Molly but were most fascinated by Paula and Elizabeth. In just a moment they were pinned up against a wall by about 20 Chinese students. You would think they were some kind of celebrities. I think it is because they are tall amf pretty. They asked them lots of questions and wanted to take their picture.
We ate dinner in the restaurant in the hotel. They had a seafood buffet. This was much different than any seafood buffet we have ever seen before. Some of the new and unique foods tried by Elizabeth and Daniel included mussels, caviar, Korean beef, snake and duck tongue. It was a lot of fun.
Our relationship with Molly is getting better each day. She most definitely has a strong preference for her mama right now (and who can blame her for that?). But she is loosening and more at ease with each of us. She is laughing more. She will imitate sound and motions we make. If we sing to her she will hum and coo and "dance". It makes us think that she might have been sung to a lot over the past year. Daniel is very attentive to her when she is distressed. He is quick to do anything possible to help at all times. He also actively tries to take pressure off of
Paula when he can. Elizabeth and Molly have absolutely fallen in love with each other. Its almost like long lost sisters who have been reunited. I've seen her be more selfless in the last few days than eve before. That's really the purpose for these free days. The more time we spend together with Molly, the better we know each other which yields great rewards. Helps me realize that the more time we spend with Christ, the closer we will be to Him. The rewards that would come with that would be immeasurable.
Tomorrow we leave Changsha for Guangzhou. There Molly will have a medical exam and we will have an interview at the US consulate to obtain her visa. That's the last step before heading home. That's just one week away and we can't wait.
We love you all so much. Thanks so much for your emails and FB posts of encouragement. Please continue to pray that everything will continue to go smoothly.

  1. Hey guys!! We love reading the blog and seeing pics of sweet Molly. Bella has asked all kinds of questions everyday! She said "Mom, when are they coming home?" and I said"In one week" and she said"Well that is not nice that they are keeping them that long!" Needless, to say she is excited! Glad you guys are doing great! I hope you like Chili Petro's style! We are going to bring you some when you get home. Tell the kids if they have any food requests to let me know! Love you guys!
